Westminster City Council

We have a longstanding relationship with Westminster CC (formerly CityWest Homes). Westminster CC chose Connected Response’s award-winning aggregated metering solution for their eight tower blocks (comprising around 900 flats) with electric storage heating and hot water. The aggregated metering solution was installed in 2015. The solution was underpinned by Zigbee Mesh technology first deployed by Energy Assets Ltd before the Technology Transfer in 2018 that resulted in the formation of Connected Response.

The aggregated metering solution enabled each tower block to be settled (through the energy industry ‘Balancing and Settlement’ process) as a single MPAN. This has allowed the council to use a heating energy tariff that is both significantly cheaper, to the benefit of all, and delivers improved comfort. The system has since been enhanced with the introduction of Connected Response Smart Controllers and Temperature and Humidity Sensors to deliver smart-charging, with three weather-dependent charging periods staggered through the night and day.

Our connection with Westminster dates back to 2013 when our co-founders, Kenny Cameron and Martin Ade-Hall, both worked at Energy Assets and were responsible for business development and technical development respectively. Our pioneering journey started then – with a pioneering landlord.
