Our Team
Toby Hocking - Systems and Operations Management
Toby has been a member of the Connected Response team for just over twelve months. Toby’s contribution is primarily technical, working alongside Martin (Technical Director) to support both day-to-day operations as well as testing new firmware and hardware. Toby also supports David (Customer Engagement Manager), responding to technical questions as they arise.
On a day-to-day basis, Toby acts as a second line of support for HeatSage technical issues facilitating the work of Connected Response’s project teams and installers on the ground. His work also includes rolling out networks to new sites, network maintenance and ensuring databases are up-to-date.
Graduating in mechanical engineering from the University of Bath, Toby has worked in mechanical, process and software engineering roles across a diverse range of sectors including the railways and banking.
Nick Huston - Head of Business Development
Nick Huston is Connected Response’s Head of Business Development. Working closely with local authorities and housing associations, Nick’s role is to identify opportunities for Connected Response’s HeatSage technology. HeatSage has been proven to reduce heating and hot water bills by around 30% for tenants reliant on electric storage heating.
Nick has extensive experience of working in the public sector having spent 17 years working in the North East for Gateshead and South Tyneside, both with local authorities and housing associations; most of this time was spent in asset management, managing capital projects and delivering energy efficiency and renewable energy projects. Nick subsequently moved to National Energy Action where he was responsible for managing 70 energy efficiency projects across Britain. More recently, Nick has worked in the private sector for heat pump manufacturer Daikin and the social housing arm of the contractor, Wates.
Stephen Gray - Head of Customer Operations
Stephen joined Connected Response in August 2022.
In a fast-growing and dynamic organisation like Connected Response, all job roles are fluid with opportunities to contribute in numerous different ways. Stephen has already spent time job shadowing Kenny (Kenny Cameron, Managing Director) and David (David Stern, Customer Engagement Manager) in order to understand both the technology underpinning the company’s HeatSage technology, and also how it is implemented on projects across the UK. Stephen is currently booking appointments to enable HeatSage installations to go ahead on a project in North Devon.
Stephen graduated from Stirling University in Environmental Geography. It was during his degree that Stephen developed a particular interest in energy and its environmental impact.
Lisa Treanor - Project Officer
Lisa joined the Connected Response team in April 2022. She is at the sharp end of Connected Response’s operations, liaising face-to-face with tenants, reassuring them about HeatSage technology and explaining how it will improve their heating experience.
‘I love my job. There is never a dull day. My principal activity is direct tenant engagement; door knocking to generate appointments for our installer teams. I also liaise with Housing Officers and other partners.
Most of the residents I speak to are social housing tenants. They are an extremely diverse group of people; no two conversations are the same. When I speak to tenants about HeatSage, they are typically appreciative that something is being done. They are fed up of being too hot in the morning and too cold in the evening.’
