SSEN - Load Managed Area (LMA) Project

Protecting your energy in Scotland

Connected Response is working alongside Energy Systems Catapult and SSEN in a trial to ensure the protection of the supply of energy to electrically heated homes in Scotland.

As Scotland moves towards becoming Net Zero, the demand for electricity from new sources such as heat pumps and electric vehicles can lead to a risk of overload and loss of supply to households if not managed in a controlled way. This can be solved by diversifying the demand in electricity, ensuring a stable supply can be maintained to all households.

This project, conducted by Connected Response and Energy Systems Catapult, will aim to test the viability of diversifying the electric demand to households, looking to see if this will make a difference to the tenant’s experience of using electric storage heaters and hot water.

This will involve selected tenants signing up to Energy Systems Catapult’s Living Lab, where they will be involved in some trials with their heating, and will be asked about their experience, answering surveys and questionnaires.

For taking part in this project, each tenant will be given £50 in gift vouchers at the start and £100 in gift vouchers at the end as a thank you for taking part. Each tenant can also potentially receive up to £150 more in gift vouchers for any short-term trials they are part of. If a tenant is asked to participate in all trials, they can receive up to £300 in gift vouchers.

To take part in the trial, tenants can call the Connected Response contact centre on 0800 0489 220 between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday. Alternatively, tenants can email info@connectedresponse.co.uk
