GHA, part of the Wheatley Group, has 10,000 flats in Glasgow with electric storage heating. The flats are a mixture of tower blocks and low-rise.

Over 95% of GHA’s tenants are on night-charging tariffs, with charging typically starting around midnight. The vision is that ‘all residents can choose how warm they want to be, and when’. They will no longer be reliant on archaic Economy 7 type tariffs dating back to the 1980s,and will also be freed from the high cost of having to use supplementary heating in winter.

The first installations of Connected Response’s technology were completed in December 2020. The programme prioritised installations for those in greatest need. The roll-out will also enable all residents to have a smart meter installed, giving them the opportunity to self-manage their energy bills, and the freedom to switch supplier.
