Stephen Gray – Project Officer

Stephen joined Connected Response in August 2022. Over the previous eighteen months, Stephen had worked for Connected Response’s parent company, Warmworks, in customer service roles.

In a fast-growing and dynamic organisation like Connected Response, all job roles are fluid with opportunities to contribute in numerous different ways. Stephen has already spent time job shadowing Kenny (Kenny Cameron, Managing Director) and David (David Stern, Customer Engagement Manager) in order to understand both the technology underpinning the company’s HeatSage technology, and also how it is implemented on projects across the UK. Stephen is currently booking appointments to enable HeatSage installations to go ahead on a project in North Devon.

Prior to joining Warmworks, Stephen graduated from Stirling University, Kenny’s alma mater, in Environmental Geography. It was during his degree that Stephen developed a particular interest in energy and its environmental impact. His dissertation looked at the true cost – commercial and environmental – of artificial snowmaking in the Alps:

‘I have really enjoyed learning about the smart load switch and communications options that are fundamental to HeatSage technology. I am currently focussed on further building my knowledgebase.

I have learnt a lot from Kenny and David about the importance of building effective commercial relationships and how, in many cases, this can require months and even years to achieve. I am spending a week in The Orkneys shortly to raise awareness of the HeatSage option for those with electric storage heating.

In the future, I am hoping to become more involved in the management of projects across the UK.’

In his spare time, Stephen is a musical footballer. Prior to starting university, Stephen was a semi-professional footballer with Kirrie Thistle, a Scottish Junior club (equivalent to an English non-league team) playing in the East Region Midlands League. Stephen is a keen supporter of the Scotland national team, often travelling overseas with his Dad where he says, ‘The worst part of the trip is often the game!’

Stephen got a love of musical theatre from his Mum and has passed Trinity and Guildhall qualifications.

Stephen’s Recommendation:

‘I have appeared in an amateur production of Les Miserables, and it remains my favourite musical. I also recommend Chicago and Sunshine on Leith.’
