Alan Jones – Business Development Manager
Alan joined Connected Response in July 2022 with the remit to seek out new business opportunities and partnerships.
Alan brings with him extensive experience in the areas of technology and energy markets, which together form the foundation of the HeatSage system offering. During his time at Energy Assets, a leading energy metering and networks company, Alan worked closely with both Kenny Cameron and Martin Ade-Hall. Together, they recognized the potential and need to effectively manage electric heating loads in social housing.
After graduating in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Alan joined GEC and worked on electronic product development. Subsequently, he led the team that developed the original radio teleswitches, and prepayment and half-hourly meters. This was cutting edge technology at the time.
Throughout the years, Alan has remained at the forefront of smart metering and automatic meter reading (AMR) technologies, contributing both from a technical and business development standpoint in the utilities sector. As a result, he has held senior management positions in global energy and energy metering companies including ABB, BCN, Iskraemeco, Gazprom, and Energy Assets. Alan has also co-founded and grown several startups in the energy sector:
‘Connected Response has embraced a range of different technologies to create the HeatSage system. Part of my role is to identify opportunities where the application of these technologies can deliver step changes in the efficient use of energy to benefit both society and the environment.
The discovery and exploitation of natural gas reserves in the North Sea during the 1980s and 1990s had a profound impact on the energy landscape, leading to a state of ‘energy complacency’. Now, due to the ‘new’ crisis in the world’s energy markets and the realisation of the importance of addressing sustainability in the face of climate change, there is no doubt in my mind of the pressing need for the technology and solutions developed by Connected Response.’
Alan is a keen walker, although walking has recently had to take a back seat to a project to renovate a property.
Alan’s Recommendation: Llangollen, taking in the river Dee, views of the countryside and the amazing Pontcysyllte Aqueduct.
